Exercise Tolerance Testing

A graded exercise test involves walking on a treadmill at gradually increasing speeds while your general condition, heart rate, blood pressure and electrocardiogram are monitored. This test gives your doctor valuable information about:

  • Your general state of fitness.
  • The capacity of your heart to perform during exercise.
  • To evaluate for the presence of blockages or narrowings in the coronary arteries which supply blood to your heart muscle (coronary artery disease).
  • Likelihood of heart rhythm disturbances to occur.
